RF Exposure Safety Calculator
Calculate power density and safety distances per FCC OET-65 and ICNIRP guidelines.
FCC MPE Limits (General Public)
| Frequency | Power Density | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 0.3-1.34 MHz | 100 mW/cm2 | MF/HF |
| 1.34-30 MHz | 180/f2 mW/cm2 | HF |
| 30-300 MHz | 0.2 mW/cm2 | VHF |
| 300-1500 MHz | f/1500 mW/cm2 | UHF/Cellular |
| 1500-100000 MHz | 1.0 mW/cm2 | Microwave |
Occupational limits are 5x higher. f = frequency in MHz.
RF Safety Standards
Power Density Formula
S = P * G / (4 * pi * R2)
S = power density (mW/cm2), P = power (mW), G = linear gain, R = distance (cm)
S = power density (mW/cm2), P = power (mW), G = linear gain, R = distance (cm)
Power density decreases with the square of distance. Always calculate for the main beam direction where exposure is highest.
Compliance Requirements
- FCC Part 1.1310: RF exposure evaluation required
